Does your home need healing?
Your home should feel safe and comfortable.
But if something doesn’t feel right, it can make you and your family tired, ill and anxious.
I have had experience of healing all sorts of properties, from small apartments to large country houses. By clearing oppressive energy and shadows, they immediately felt happier and lighter. Two apartments, which simply wouldn’t shift for months, sold immediately after my visit.
These sessions tend to take between 3 hours and a full day, depending on the scale and challenge.
My approach is practical and reassuring, but very effective. The first step is to call or email me, and we can chat about what you might need. I create a positive environment with positive energy.
I love walking into a house or apartment that has good energy. Obviously beautiful fabrics, comfortable furniture and interesting pictures play their part, but a home that has good energy has an additional secret ingredient; a wonderful feeling of lightness and clarity, where you can feel relaxed, inspired and energised all at the same time.
As a spiritualist I am often called in to sort out the energy in houses and apartments. Most of my clients can’t quite put their finger on what is wrong. They might notice that they feel inexplicably lethargic after a night at home, but better when they sleep elsewhere. They report that their children and pets tend to avoid certain rooms. They might say that their apartment has a lot of potential buyers but just won’t sell. Many of these conversations start with, 'I can’t tell my husband I’m calling you, because he’ll think I’m mad, but something doesn’t feel quite right. I’ve never quite connected or fallen in love with this house, and just I don’t know why.'
Interior Designer Michelle explains this in energy terms. 'If a room isn’t right, it’s a niggle in the back of the mind. Take notice. You need to listen to your heart, intuition and gut feeling. You need to understand how Chi flows around a house, just like blood flows around a body. Where the house feels stiff and stuck, that’s where the energy is blocked.' Over the last twenty five years, I’ve learned a lot from all sorts of other experts (including decorators and gardeners, who instinctively know a lot more about energy flow than they let on), about how to change the energy and heal my own home. I’m incredibly sensitive to atmospheres, and I know that every time I rearrange the furniture or make an effort to light a candle on the supper table, I am changing the vibe. Looking after my house with love and attention makes the house feel happier. It’s a virtuous circle, because when the house feels happy, it looks after me and my family in return.
But like a goldfish, used to the quality of the water in my own bowl, I often tune out too. I become temporarily immune to the heap of clothes on my bedroom chair, to the higgledy-piggledy pile of papers on the stairs, and to the sad orchid that lost all its flowers months ago and looks more like a stick than a potted plant. But noticing all these clues in a mindful way is important, because in energy terms, anything that is untidy, unfinished or unloved, holds onto stagnant energy and disrupts the flow of good, clean, sparkling energy in a building.
If you want to change the energy in your home, the first step is to ASSESS what’s going on. Start with one room and bring your full attention to it. Look at every wall and surface, as though you were a stylist planning a House & Garden cover shoot, or the fastidious housekeeper in a five-star hotel.
The second step is to CLEAR AND CLEAN. This is where the bulk of the work takes place. Roll up your sleeves, open windows, put on some music. Working methodically, tidy the room and put everything away, concentrating on one surface or space at a time. If you don’t love an object because it’s ugly (hideous wedding present), makes you feel guilty (unused gym equipment), is an unwanted heirloom (your granny’s silver teapot that tastes of metal polish) it’s probably clutter. If it is broken, doesn’t have a home, or hasn’t been used for years, it’s probably clutter too. So be brave, and try your hardest to fix it, chuck it, or give it to the charity shop, until you are only left with things that are genuinely useful or joy giving. This can be exhausting, but each decision you make, each object you dispose of, clears stuck energy in the room, and I promise you will have a lot more once it has gone.
The third step is to BEAUTIFY. I’m not talking about an immaculate show home vibe here. Just simple, obvious things, like making an effort even for a casual meal. Prettify the kitchen table, with your favourite salad bowl or a tiny jug of flowers. Decorating is much more than aesthetics. It’s about creating happiness by finding ways to love and cherish both your home and the people in it. Try and appeal to all your senses; experiment with lamps and dimmer switches until you are happy with your lighting. Put a cosy, soft rug next to your child’s bed. Invest in a half decent speaker. Find scented candles and soap that you really like (rather than rely on the second hand ones from someone else’s present drawer).
The fourth step is GRATITUDE. Stand in the middle of the room and close your eyes. Imagine beaming good thoughts and gratitude into every corner. Even if you feel slightly foolish, thank the room for keeping you safe and warm. Then set your intention. Ask the space to help you create whatever you need; whether it’s more sleep, clarity for a new project, or a happy family atmosphere. Repeat the process as often as you need to. Finally end the session with a Mantra Blessing & Meditation to put the finishing touches to the job.
